YTTRIUM

One of four, count them, four elements named for the town of Ytterby in Sweden. But surprisingly, Yttrium and Ytterbium, the two only 'Y's on the periodic table, were discovered nearly a century apart from each other. In any case, Yttrium is perhaps best respected by the superconductor industry - who utilise YBCO - a mixture of yttrium, barium, and copper oxide, as a superconductor which works at higher temperatures than other superconductors, losing as little electricity as possible.

In the element collection Yttrium, which might be a transition metal or might be one of the near-lanthanides/rare-earths-elements/inner-transition-metals depending on if you value its electronic configuration [Kr 4d1 5s2] or chemical nature [more alike the lanthanides, and occurs in lanthanide minerals] more, is represented by these metal pieces which arrived in 2020. They aren't the prettiest and even now they don't do much to excite me. So for a while I have been considering a nicer yttrium sample, but I think for now it's okay for what it is.
